The Civil Military Support Element (CMSE) at the U. S. Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina visited the municipality of Jezero

On February 14, 2019, the municipality of Jezero was visited by Benjamin Ordiway and Meredith Cole from the Civil Military Support Element (CMSE) at the U. S. Embassy and Dženita Namgalija, CMSE Interpreter.The topic of the meeting was related to the recent floods that hit the municipality of Jezero.

On behalf of the municipality of Jezero, the meeting was attended by the Mayor of the municipality, Snežana Ružičić and Deputy Mayor, Dragan Strugalović.

During the meeting, Ms Snežana Ružičić informed the representatives of CMSE about the long term problem of floods cause by the torrential river Jošavka and the river Pliva. Besides, she also emphasizes the importance of reconstructing the riverbed of Jošavka with the aim of decreasing floods, as well as installing eco-networks in the river Pliva for collecting waste from the water.

The representatives of the U. S. Embassy introduced Mayor and Deputy Mayor to the examples of their activities in local communities and opportunities for developing cooperation and acting at the local level. They also expressed their gratitude that they were given the opportunity to get all the relevant information and insight into the real situation on the ground regarding to the recent floods, as well as the opportunity to hear suggestions for possible projects.

The suggestion of the working meeting is that, in the following period, a meeting will be held in the municipality of Jezero with the mayors of municipalities located in the Pliva River Basin and representatives of the U. S. Embassy.
