The rover mission to the Mars, more precisely, to the crater called Jezero, is one of the largest missions of NASA as part of the Red Planet research, and the crater was named in 2007 by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) due to its similarity to the Jezero Municipality.

Since the launch of the rover on Mars in the Municipality of Jezero was sent via video beam in July 2020, Mayor Snezana Ruzicic, together with the youth and students of the municipality of Jezero, eagerly awaited the safe landing of the rover "Persistence" on the crater Jezero on Mars.

Today, at 9:55 PM, rover landed safely on the crater, where will stay for several years and collect evidence of the existence of traces of life. Online monitoring of the landing via video beam was organized in the "Serbia" sports hall, in modest conditions, respecting the epidemiological measures prescribed by the competent institutions. On that occasion, at the invitation of the mayor, today's event was attended by the representative of the Ministry of Scientific and Technological Development, Higher Education and Information Society of Republika Srpska, Sanela Dojčinović, the team for military-civilian cooperation of the US Embassy in BiH, Adam Anderson and Kary Belmore.

Representatives of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics from Banja Luka, thus providing support to the activities that are being carried out and planned to be carried out in the municipality of Jezero, during the project of NASA's the largest mission on the Mars 2020 and rover stay on Mars. The event was opened at 7 pm by young athletes from this municipality with a friendly volleyball match, and the teams bore symbolic names, Mars and Earth. The mayor took the opportunity to greet everyone present and pointed out that this event is very important for the municipality of Jezero, both entities of BiH and the region, and then awarded letters of thanks, signed by the US Ambassador in BiH, Mr. Eric Nelson, to the youngest residents.

Short video was recorded with the topic of the planet Mars in July, which was shared by the NASA agency on the official website. At 9.55 pm, the rover landed safely on the crater Jezero, which was seen off with great enthusiasm by all those present. The plan during the rover's stay on Mars is that certain activities to be implemented in the municipality of Jezero in cooperation with the Ministry of Scientific and Technological Development, Higher Education and Information Society of Republika Srpska and the Universities of both entities, Sarajevo, Mostar and Banja Luka following the Mayor Ružičić initiative, they all expressed interest in participating in the project. The news that the crater was named after the municipality of Jezero in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the moment of organizing the monitoring of rover launches in the municipality of Jezero, and monitoring the landing of rovers, brought the municipality of Jezero to the center of the world media, which could result in future projects in tourism and ecology.
