First meeting of six women mayors

On January 25, 2019, in the building of the municipality of Jezero, there was held a working meeting of six women mayors in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This is the first time that the mayors, on their own initiative, start the possibility for realization of large projects. The projects they agreed about will be beneficial for local communities led by women politicians and it will directly affect economic empowerment of the population.

The meeting was attended by mayors Snežana Ružičić (the municipality of Jezero), Divna Aničić (the municipality of Mrkonjić Grad), Mileva Komlenović (the municipality of Kalinovik), Amra Babić (the municipality of Visoko) and Milka Ivanković (the municipality of Istočni Drvar); by the representatives of Council of Europe, Drahoslav Štefánek and Esad Mavrić; by the Vice-President of National Assembly of Republika Srpska, Željka Stojičić; by representatives of Embassy of Switzerland Dimka Stantchev Skie (Head of governance and Regional Advisor on social inclusion) and Alma Zukorlić (programme officer, governance); by the representative of Embassy of Slovakia, Ambassador Martin Kačo; by the Minister of Public Administration and Local Self- Government of the Republika Srpska, Lejla Rešić; by the Chief of the Cabinet of the Minister of Public Administration and Local Self- Government of the Republika Srpska, Ognjen Obradović; by the Advisor of the Minister of Public Administration and Local Self- Government of the Republika Srpska, Gordana Vujičić; by the Advisor of the President of Republika Srpska, Koviljka Špirić; and by the President of the Municipal Assemly of Jezero, Dragana Karaga.

The aim of the meeting was finding opportunities to withdraw funds from European funds, starting the initiative for establishing the Fund for support of local economic development of six municipalities from Bosnia and Herzegovina in which women are the mayors (municipalities of Jezero, Mrkonjić Grad, Istočni Drvar, Kalinovik, Novo Goražde and Visoko), economic and political empowerment of women through projects of entrepreneurship development, infrastructure and other projects.
